Nicki Minaj vs Main Stream Media

Published

on

It isn’t uncommon for blogs to propagate false narratives about celebrities, it is uncommon however for global media broadcasters to perpetuate the narrative and further slander the individual without uncovering the truth.

Nicki Minaj found herself at the center of controversy after a snippet from a September 13 Twitter conversation with fans explaining her absence from the 2021 VMAs and Met Gala started trending as when major blogs posted an article eluding that Nicki was using her platform to spread anti vaccination discourse.

It further blew out of hand when a host on MSNBC Joy Anne Ried joined the train slamming Minaj and added her two cents saying that Minaj is using her platform to bring individuals closer to death. This article and narrative grew so big that even Piers Morgan and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson entered the chat. With Piers joining the hate train.

However, if these figureheads had done any reading at all they would realize that it was a series of tweets at the end of which Nicki Minaj actually encouraged fans to get vaccinated because she herself would be taking the vaccine. Here’s the Twitter thread in sequence.

No one was really surprised when Piers Morgan decided to chime in, the man enjoys bullying women, black women especially remember Meghan Markle… It was Joy Anne Ried’s two cents that had fans taken aback especially when the good sis back in 2020 tweeted to her 2M followers her distrust of the vaccine and didn’t bother to read the article beyond the head and under the guise of being a Nicki fan and hip-hop fan used that time to bring her down.

But Nicki had time today and didn’t hesitate to answer to those spreading false narratives about her.

RSLPF Response Plans to Anse La Raye/ Marigot Reports of Crime

The recent incidents of crime within the communities of Jacmel and Marigot, remain an area of concern for the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.

There have been recorded homicides, non-fatal shootings, robberies and other violent reports of late, which have forced a review of the crime prevention and reduction strategy in this area.

The RSLPF embarked on an initiative where a team comprising of professionals in various areas, including Social Services, the medical fraternity, and community groups/ leaders, would visit affected parties, as well as vulnerable locations in order to provide support and advice on measures to reduce the occurrence of crime. Other measures included increased patrols, vehicular and foot, alongside searches of targeted locations.

These measures bore fruit, however, a more comprehensive approach is currently being rolled out, which would involve more significant community involvement and empowerment. It is noteworthy that community members feel intimated by the criminal elements and the work to reduce the fear of crime is an arduous one, but one that we remain resolute in achieving. We wish to remind persons that there are anonymous ways of providing information to the Police, such as the Crime Hotline (45-CRIME), or any police officer or other professional who one trusts may be utilised to convey information to the relevant authorities.

The RSLPF thanks all the individuals who have placed their trust in our membership, and for those who possess reservations, we will continue to strive to earn your trust, as without a partnership with the community, effective policing is near impossible.
