Cardi B continues to make history.
The Bronx rapper is proving herself to be a force to reckon with as her latest single, “UP,” has officially hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This latest achievement means that Cardi now has her 5th career No. 1 hit and extends her record for the most No. 1 hit among female rappers.
Cardi B shared the ecstatic news with fans on Monday. She thanking God and her fans on IG Live.
She also posted a snippet of “Up” with a caption clearly aimed at those who insist on chiding away at her success and attributing much of her hard earned successes to payola, a term that has seemingly become synonymous to Cardi.
Whether some may believe it is success formed of payola the facts still remain the single “UP” a follow-up to “WAP,” which she also held No. 1 status for and shared with Megan Thee Stallion. Cardi is the only female rapper to have 5 No. 1 Hot 100 hits, she is also the first female rapper with two Hot 100 No.1s hits as a solo artist. Her first hit being “Bodak Yellow,” released in 2017 and though some fans have debated this she is the first female rapper to certify diamond. RIAA said it.
Congratulations to @iamcardib, the first female rapper to achieve a RIAA ? single award! #BodakYellow @AtlanticRecords https://t.co/D4gDxJorkR
