Veteran Saint Lucian Songwriter says “Trini-Bad” Is Ruining Our Youth


Is Trini-Bad, a subcategory of dancehall music ruining our youth. This newest sub-genre of music took off some where around 2018 and has become a staple of music accross the region. Despite it’s melodious hooks and overall good sound, in most of the songs the yrics take on a more violent sound, even glamourizing violent behavior.

On the Sept 14 episode of Real 91.3FM’s hit talk show with host Timothy Poleon, one caller expressed his views on many sociatel issues as to why our quality of youth is degrading. This caller isn’t no ordinary joe off the street in fact he is veteran Calypso writer JahT.

JahT holds many accolades to his name. He produced 6 roadmarch songs during his stint as a writer and has written most of Saint Lucia’s greatest Calypso hits. As a man who is intuned with the social sciences of our country he expressed his views on the damage he believes Trini-Bad music is doing in our country. Here’s what he had to say:
